Some additional (largely-amateur) commentary and analysis will be added later today about the first band displayed below...Suffice to say for now that I am at least 'slightly' blown-away by lead singer's quality voice, featured in this 50+-year-old "sunshine" pop tune..
...↓An excellent "dub/live" video presentation reposted below. The band's ability still shines through (in) the tinny-sounding live portion. ..Good female singing voices and (though over-emphasized in the not-great live recording/set-up), an apparently proficient drummer is "discovered". (Or re-discovered.):

(↑↓Song released in 1969:)
(↓Good quality stereo recording:) ..An interesting (deeper) timbre, some richness, strength, "color", command, and quite of a bit of seemingly-natural 'ring' (- beyond the recording's technical enhancement -) in this young woman's voice. A surprisingly distinct and appealing voice...also featuring some at-least-decent clarity. Her singing voice also seems mature beyond her years (..back then).
(Update:) 'One of those people'(?): In the talent-crowded '60's "The Peppermint Rainbow" may have wound-up as essentially a one-hit wonder. I've gained the feeling though that lead singer Bonnie Lamdin was going to "kill it" pretty much no matter what she ended up doing. (Yes...: With some hindsight..) In some ways it's too bad that she did not pursue her singing (professionally), but worry-not about her eventual path. A really interesting 2019 follow-up article about Bonnie, Peppermint Rainbow and some of the people she encountered along the way: (Offsite link) "Peppermint Rainbow singer Bonnie Lamdin Phipps remembers ‘Will You Be Staying After Sunday’"

(Yes...:"Spanky" and Bonnie Lamdin ('Peppermint'..) may fundamentally be different types of singers. 'Spanky' may feature more of
(mainly) an alto's range. (It's a
guess.
She could be a mezzo (..similar singer is linked)...)
Bonnie....?? Seems closer to a mezzo-soprano... And Bonnie's (harmonizing) sister Pat Lamdin....???)

↓Even more Bonnie + Peppermint Rainbow if you care to. (This vocal effort generally sounds (even) closer to (those of) Elaine 'Spanky' McFarlane:)
